Department of Politics and Government  

  • The Department of Politics and Government hosts Critique, a journal for students of political science and has just recently been accepted on the American Political Science Association website making it a professionally recognized journal.
  • The Department of Politics and Government hosts the Annual Conference for Students of Political Science in April of each year and continues to attract students from all over the country and international venues.
  • Department faculty continue to win Outstanding College and University Teaching, Research and Service Awards.
  • The Department remains a student-centered department and encourages students to participate in Study Abroad programs, service learning projects, and professional practice internships.
  • Department faculty are one of the most productive in the College of Arts and Sciences with 85% of current and retired faculty producing peer reviewed books.
  • The Department remains cutting edge by continually revising its graduate and undergraduate curriculums.
  • The Department is one of the key participants in the American Democracy Project.
  • The Department has successfully hired three new tenure track faculty to begin in August 2007.
