My full name is Robert Lavery Broad, which
has a nice ring to it. That name also records my matriarchal as
well as my patriarchal lines. Still, as an antidote to the stuffy
tendencies of the academy, I've chosen to make my informal name
my professional name.
I am an Assistant Professor of English at Illinois State University,
teaching graduate courses in rhetoric and composition as well
as a variety of undergraduate courses. I am also Director of English
Education at Illinois State.
