Grabill-Homan Peace Prize

Emeritus professors of history Joseph L. Grabill and Gerlof D. Homan had overlapping careers at ISU. In the late-1970s, in the midst of the Cold War, they both began to focus their research and efforts on peace studies. The interdisciplinary Peace Studies program at ISU arose out of the inner transformation among these two professors and like-minded colleagues.

Each candidate for a Grabill-Homan Peace Prize must be or have:

a. enrolled in good standing at Illinois State University

b. a Peace and Conflict Resolution minor with a minimum of 30 hours of college credit

c. committed to using these scholarship funds for educational expenses

d. demonstrated involvement with campus and community peacemaking activities

A single scholarship check will be awarded to the recipient at the College spring awards ceremony to help cover educational expenses. The amount of the award will be based on the earned income from the principal of the fund (estimated $500).

Application forms are available in the College office (141 Stevenson Hall). Application Deadline: February 1, 2010.
