Career Competency Combinations

What are the CCC's?

Career Competency Combinations (CCC's) are groups of courses from a variety of departments in the College of Arts and Sciences which in combination provide knowledge, skills, and background appropriate for certain broadly defined careers.

Can I Major in a CCC field?

CCC's are not majors or minors. They are designed to complement your chosen major and help you plan your overall program of study. Courses in a CCC which are part of your major count toward the completion of a CCC.

Why should I complete a CCC?

Completion of a CCC could help you organize your coursework in a way which enhances your official major and/or minor. It could strengthen your resume by being identified there and help you sell yourself at an interview.

Will my transcript show successful completion of a CCC?

Because CCC's are not majors or minors, the CCC title will not appear on the transcript. All the courses involved will appear, however. The College of Arts and Sciences will recognize your completion of a CCC upon the certification of success by your major department.

How do CCC's relate to other special programs at the University?

Supplementing this course of study with a professional practice, internship, or study abroad experience is strongly advised. Extra curricular activities can further enhance your experience and help you present yourself as a well-rounded potential employee.

Are there minimum grade requirements ?

Yes, coursework must be completed with an average GPA of 2.25 or higher.

Are there advisors for CCC's ?

Competencies are designed to be "self-advised," but students should certainly feel free to seek additional information from their academic or departmental advisor.
